Proposed Park in Brunswick/Jefferson Area

Attached is the schedule for upcoming meetings regarding the proposed park in the Brunswick/Jefferson area. The county is proposing a large park on Rt 180 between Olive School Road and Petersville Rd (Rt 79). The original master plan calls for a pool, however, drastic budget cuts have put the pool on hold. The director did tell me that they are still planning a placeholder in the master plan for the pool, so the park will be planned "as if" the pool will be built just might take a little long...

Brunswick -- High water and tax bills, sidewalk repairs, and a perceived lack of communication between the Brunswick City Council and the community were the topics of the night Monday as residents met with candidates vying for seats on the council during a forum at the Green Country Inn.

Councilman Tom Smith said he was surprised by how many people expressed concern about openness between the council and residents.

Gazette July 15, 2010 Brunswick set to elect three City Councilmen

Brunswick will hold an election for three City Council seats on Aug. 3; filling a fourth vacated seat on the council will have to wait until October.

Councilman Jeremy Biser resigned his seat July 2 because his job requires him to relocate to Pennsylvania, according to an e-mail from city administrator Dave Dunn. A special election to fill the rest of Biser's term will be held Oct. 5.

Special Election

At the Brunswick City Council meeting July 13 there was a special vote by the council to change the election for the remainder of Jeremy Biser's seat on the council.  The original plan was to add his seat to the current election being held on August 3rd where 3 seats are to be filled.  The new date for the special election for Jeremy Biser's seat is October 5, 2010.  On August 3rd we will be voting in 3 council members.
