With new business designation, Brunswick gets a pitch for development

Brunswick has received its first proposal for downtown development since it received a special business-friendly designation from the state in early July.

Scot Lessler told city officials Monday that he’s reached an agreement with Verdant Development Group LLC and architect Bruce Zavos, both of Frederick, to do a 120-day feasibility study for development in downtown Brunswick.

Brunswick trying to appeal to people who love the outdoors

Brunswick’s economic development commission is strengthening its efforts to use local outdoor destinations in marketing the town.

The campaign will highlight that the downtown area is close to the C&O Canal National Historical Park, the Appalachian Trail and the Potomac River.

On Wednesday, the commission held a special public meeting to announce its plan to launch a marketing campaign to brand the city as a destination for people who love being outdoors.
