ANNAPOLIS — Senate lawmakers have folded more than $200,000 in bond funding for Frederick County projects into the state’s capital budget, including money for a family shelter in Frederick, a museum in Brunswick, and a historic art studio for Middletown.

BRUNSWICK — Public comments on Tuesday reinforced the Brunswick City Council’s plan to buy two buildings and improve the city skate park.

Votes are tentatively set for May 10 to buy the buildings at 40-42 and 811 W. Potomac St. The contract for 40-42 W. Potomac St., home of the Brunswick Heritage Museum, is waiting on the resolution of an issue that came up in the building inspection phase, according to Bob McGrory, the city administrator.

BRUNSWICK -- Business owner Angel White won Tuesday's special council election, handily defeating former Mayor Dick Goodrich.

White, who owns and operates Head-Quarters hair salon on Potomac Street, will take over the council seat left vacant when former Councilman Jeremy Biser resigned in July. The term ends in 2012.

Proposed Park in Brunswick/Jefferson Area

Attached is the schedule for upcoming meetings regarding the proposed park in the Brunswick/Jefferson area. The county is proposing a large park on Rt 180 between Olive School Road and Petersville Rd (Rt 79). The original master plan calls for a pool, however, drastic budget cuts have put the pool on hold. The director did tell me that they are still planning a placeholder in the master plan for the pool, so the park will be planned "as if" the pool will be built just might take a little long...

Brunswick -- High water and tax bills, sidewalk repairs, and a perceived lack of communication between the Brunswick City Council and the community were the topics of the night Monday as residents met with candidates vying for seats on the council during a forum at the Green Country Inn.
