VOTE ~ October 5th, Brunswick City Council Special Election
Be sure to VOTE October 5th 8:00am -8:00pm at the Brunswick City Park for the “Special Election” for Brunswick City Council!
Did you know...? If you do not think you can go to to the City Park building on Oct. 5, please call the city and ask for an Absentee Ballot. You can pick up the Ballot or have the city mail it to you. Oct. 5th is right around the corner so you may want to jump on that option if need.
My name is Angel White and I own a hair salon in downtown Brunswick. I have lived here in Brunswick for a little over five years and I am so glad I have. I love Brunswick for all that it is and all that it will be.
The October election is a special election to fill the seat vacated by Jeremy Biser when he relocated for his job. I decided to run for City Council in this special election as a way to give something back to the City I love so much – to support our city and be a voice for us as citizens. When I decided to run for this election it was a simple thought, “I won't give up.” When I ran in the election in August and only needed another 6 votes to secure a seat on the Council, I couldn't stop there. I won't give up on my vision of giving more of my time and efforts to support the City of Brunswick.
You may ask: Who is Angel White and why should I vote for her? I feel I am the best candidate for council member because I have demonstrated that I am a fiscally responsible successful business owner, I have experience in administrative management, I have strong family values (I am a loving wife and mother of two beautiful young daughters), I have strong communication skills and I BELIEVE in Brunswick. Brunswick is at a turning point in its history with significant expansion and corresponding opportunities and risks. I want to help lead Brunswick on a path to success.
In my business, I have the opportunity to hear from many Brunswick citizens on a wide variety of topics. I am able to process and work through situations in an analytical process and look at different sources to make a decision based on facts and considering short- and long-term effects our special city.
As for my experience on balancing budgets, for the last 12 years I have owned and operated three successful businesses, including management of the finances and budgeting. While the City's budget is complex, it is similar in many regards to a multi-faceted corporation.
I will represent the interests of the entire Brunswick community. I want to be emphatic in stating that my constituency will not be limited to any one segment of the population or any particular group or groups. I am seeking, and welcome, support for my candidacy from all who want a representative of the entire community on the council. I hope that all voters will look with an open mind at my experience and my values, even if they consider themselves members of one of the city's vying factions, and realize that voting for me is a smart choice for the community.
I am running for City Council now because I want to be a unifying force for Brunswick. I believe that restoring unity and pride in Brunswick is of vital importance for our community. Because that is the right thing to do. Many new residents are and will be moving into our beloved city. Let's stand together and welcome them with open arms as they have taken a chance and moved here to enjoy our City – for the same reasons we have either stayed here or moved here. We have a beautiful City that we can share.
